Job/Internship Description
SUMMARY

The Sub-assembly Student Intern will work with the Sub-assembly team to learn the basics of assembly and learn the internal computer systems, fasteners, bolts and how to read prints.

The Sub-assembly Student Intern job description is intended to point out major duties and authorities within the position, but it is not limited to these items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Organize parts carts; prepare parts on carts for returns (label and sort).

2. Assemble change parts for production machines.

3. Assemble customer orders before shipment

4. Return fittings and fasteners to bins.

5. Engrave hard plastic labels for change parts.

6. Ensure that the assembly floor area remains well organized and free of clutter.

7. Remove empty skids, knock down cartons, and remove discarded pads and any extra leftover product.

8. Assist Assembly and Machine Checkout as needed.

9. Fill cups and bottles with salt or water to simulate product in machines.

10. Re-size pads when needed for customer testing.

11. Load machines with test products for check-out process.

12. Clean machines for refurbishment, for customer visits and for FAT.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

1. High School diploma or equivalent.

2. Basic carpentry and/or mechanical skills preferred.

Technical Skills and Abilities

1. Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office Products.

2. Must have good knowledge of assorted hand tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

TheSub-assembly Student Intern must be able to:

1. Stand or walk for the majority of a workday.

2. Speak and hear to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication in person or using the telephone; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to co-workers, supervisors, vendors and others inside and outside the company.

3. Apply physical mobility (reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and arm and leg extension) to perform all assembly production activities.

4. Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull parts. Also able to move parts, tools, equipment and materials in and out of vehicles.

5. Regularly lift 40 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.

6. See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading written plans and other documents.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. The majority of job duties are performed on the assembly floor with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

The Sub-assembly Student Intern must be able to:

1. Operate pallet jack and automated skid shrink wrapper.

2. Operate a drill press.

3. Use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator and other such equipment.
