Job Description

We are seeking an Electronic Security and Fire Systems Designer to join our Federal Systems team based at the world renown Center for Disease Control (CDC). We've supported the CDC for over 20 years helping support their security, energy efficiency, HVAC controls, lighting, and fire alarm needs. Our team here supports retrofit, install, and service work here. We invest in training for our employees here to improve technical skillsets in all of these areas to be a go-to resource for the CDC and their needs.

Shift: Primary hours are 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday (start and end times are flexible based on employee needs). Overtime is available if interested.

As a Security and Fire Systems Designer, you will:

  • Performs hardware designs for flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required, primarily working with the Softwarehouse C-cure 9000 system.
  • Performs software programming using established standards as a basis of design or custom as required
  • Coordinates the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation
  • Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects.Coordinates processes to meet factory and project schedule
  • Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation
  • Gathers field changes from the project team and creates as-built drawings (in Visio/CAD drawings) and software. Prepares proper documentation and/or manuals for system operation
  • Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues
  • Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total system
  • Completes paperwork including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation
  • Adheres to safety standards, local and national codes.High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety

Required Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience with installing and/or commissioning controls systems including system-level controllers, including 2 or more years experience with design in the security and/or fire industry (i.e. flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, electrical schematics) and software applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security and fire systems, electrical, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools, Fiber, Network layouts, and IP scheming. Visio/AutoCad experience strongly preferred
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Softwarehouse Ccure 9000; troubleshooting, maintenance, and programming
  • NICET level certification
