The Wellness and Recreation Center at BBC is currently seeking a Student Lifeguard to join their team of professionals. Duties to include:
- Ensures the safety and wellbeing of all participants utilizing the Aquatics Center which includes a 50-meter by 25-yard Olympic Pool and stand-alone dive well.
- Monitors and supervises all swimming activities.
- Provides preventive lifeguarding and vigilant observance for informal recreation, departmental programming, rentals, intercollegiate athletic swim meets and youth programming.
- Maintains knowledge of current lifeguarding skills in accordance with the American Red Cross and Florida International University Campus Recreation policies and procedures.
- Enforces rules and regulations where applicable.
- Arrives on time for assigned shifts and ensures appropriate supervision of pools.
- Provides a clean and safe aquatics center by performing assigned light cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Maintains regular communication with the supervisory team and other lifeguards.
- Actively participates in all general and in-service trainings.
- Performs kayaking instruction as assigned.
- Provides exceptional customer service and develop and cultivate positive rapport with patrons.
- Maintains current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, First aid, CPR and AED.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
- American Red Cross, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Lifeguard will maintain certifications within the American Red Cross that pertain to lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED.
Student Assistant
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
- Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
- Weekends and evening availability desired
- Increased seasonal hours available during summer and winter trainings
$16.00/hour to $17.00/hour
