Overview

TRC Companies, Inc. administers a large local utility Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Program and is seeking an energetic Outreach Specialist and/or Business Development Representative to engage with contractors, vendors and commercial, industrial, small business, and government customers regarding the implementation of energy efficiency and the programs available to assist them.

The primary role of this position will be as a member of TRC's C&I Program Business Development team to develop and conduct outreach and education strategies to increase participation in the C&I Program by commercial and industrial customers, contractors, and vendors. Candidates must possess strong outreach or sales-type skills, knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, and an understanding of the energy, environmental and economic landscape of Eastern Kansas or Western Missouri.

We are looking to hire multiple individuals and in order to be considered, you must be based in or willing to relocate to Central and/or Eastern Kansas.


Responsibilities

*THIS IS A HYBRID/FIELD POSITION THROUGHOUT THE CENTRAL/EASTERN KANSAS AREA*

  • Execute an established outreach plan for the Program and communicate a consistent brand and message.
  • Provide one on one assistance to customers and contractors regarding their energy savings opportunities and how to utilize the program's offerings.
  • Assist in developing outreach strategies to address specific sectors and markets.
  • Provide sector intelligence by analyzing and summarizing data and trends within given markets and identifying opportunities to engage with these sectors.
  • Identify outreach opportunities by ascertaining customer requirements and analyzing how the program can reach customers.
  • Manage and track leads and project utilizing TRC's project tracking system.
  • Work closely with other functional groups, including program coordination and engineering.
  • Attend and present at tradeshows and events as necessary, to promote and educate businesses on the benefits of the Program.
  • Expect travel within assigned territory, overnight travel not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Sales or business development experience, preferably within the energy sector, or the design or construction industries
  • 2 - 5 years of experience implementing outreach strategies in the energy efficiency sector, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience evaluating the effectiveness of outreach efforts and suggesting alternatives.
  • Experience working with state agencies, public authorities or utilities preferred
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of target audience and how to effectively engage multiple levels of decision making within a company, municipality, or other local government or state agency.
  • Team-oriented, hands-on, highly skilled, adaptive, and client-focused.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial site energy efficiency evaluations or audits a plus.
  • Energy efficiency-related certifications are a plus, such as Certified Energy Manager (CSM) or LEED AP (LEED Accredited Professional).

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range

USD $60,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.
