The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Environmental Communications Coordinator (Program Project Coordinator) to lead the Air Program's marketing, design, and support outreach efforts in the Natural Resources Division.


High Deductible Health Plan - bi-weekly premiums:

General Description
Manages and coordinates, with considerable independence, all activities of a particular program/project within a section or agency.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, graphic design or closely related field.

(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires two (2) years' experience in a staff or administrative capacity managing special projects, programs or business operations appropriate to the area of assignment or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E driver's license based on area of assignment.

Preferences

Two years of experience in marketing

One year of experience in project planning

Experience using HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript

Master's degree in a related field

LEED Green Certification

Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)

Project Management Professional (PMP)

Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P)

One year of experience in outreach initiatives

One year of experience developing social media content for a professional organization

Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite

Strong communication skills: Verbal and Written

Experience with web ADA compliance

Two years of experience in graphic design

Two years of experience in Adobe Suite

Two years experience in Illustrator, MailChimp, InDesign, or Photoshop

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Coordinates and manages all aspects of developing marketing and graphic design material for the Natural Resource Division's Air Program.

Implements environmental education and outreach activities for the Air Program.

Implements programs and community-wide special events.

Leads the review and updates to the Division website ensuring compliance with the Department and Office of Public Communications

Leads and coordinates the Division's social media team.

Creates and modifies PowerPoint presentations for agency communication and creates other support documents.

Creates and maintains performance/production reports (spreadsheets) for social media accounts and website trends. This includes quarterly social media and website reports for the Natural Resources Division.

Communicates key procedural changes to staff and management.

Performs outreach planning and develops and implements outreach projects including public meetings.

Coordinates and implements social media communications and activities.

Plans and develops print materials for outreach campaigns, PowerPoint Presentations, and other collateral materials.

Performs related work as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to traffic; moving machinery.
