Overview

TRC offers a diversity of infrastructure-related services as part of our portfolio that includes materials testing and inspection, non-destructive testing and evaluation, construction management and inspection, bridge and highway design, civil engineering, and environmental consulting.

TRC is currently seeking experienced Roadway Inspector to support our team in Riverside, CA. These Inspectors will inspect each stage of Caltrans roadway and freeway construction up to completion. Interprets Caltrans plans, specifications, and codes and verifies contract work is performed in accordance with all applicable governing codes and regulations. They are also experienced in traffic control and concrete pavement inspection.


Responsibilities

Job Duties:

  • Monitors construction sites for safety violations. Review or prepare interim progress reports for contractor payments. Monitors contractor-testing activities. Prepares reports on labor, material, and equipment on site. Determines construction conforms to plans and specifications.
  • Conducts quality surveillance of specific quality related activities as necessary. Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with Caltrans and owner's safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide Construction Safety and Security field services, as directed, including but not limited to Site Safety and Security Reviews including for Construction Equipment, Personnel, Work Procedures and Traffic Control.
  • Coordinate preparation of inspection survey reports, cost estimates and maintenance records. Timely submittals of these reports and records. Arranges, coordinates and oversees technical inspections such as electrical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
  • Ability to assist the Geotechnical Engineer or the Engineering Management Support Services Contractor in the collecting, interpreting, analyzing and presenting geotechnical and survey monitoring data.
  • Coordinates test laboratory activities and compares verifications test results with result from Contractor-s laboratory.
  • May allocate inspection resources and supervise inspectors also qualified to meet the duties above.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from a 4-year curriculum, in civil engineering accredited by ABET, EIT may be substituted for the required education.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in roadway construction inspection of highways of major public works projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with equipment used in roadway construction inspection, surveying, and construction office engineering.
  • Knowledge of computers, computer applications, and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others);
  • Critical Path Method (CPM) software such as Primavera Project Planner (P3, P6) and SureTrak, or any updated version, as a minimum; Scheduler Analyzer Pro; and Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge and experience with principles of effective communication.
  • Knowledge and experience with monitoring labor compliance.
  • Knowledge and experience with subcontracting laws and policies.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention. Program and the General Permit.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual. Knowledge and experience in keeping complete, accurate, and concise records of the work and quantities.

Compensation:

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $85,000-$150,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range

USD $85,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
