REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Audio-Video Production Specialist Part Time - 19 at the Main Library within the Libraries Division. Additional vacancies may be filled from this recruitment for a different location/section within the library system. This position may be scheduled to work or assigned to any location/section, within the Libraries Division based on operational needs.

Main Library serves as an integral part of the community, offering event/program coordination in educational, recreational, and cultural programs on a regular basis. This may include mornings, nights, weekends and may be outside of building hours, to work on different projects and events.

The purpose of this position is to work as part of a team responsible for providing technical support to the internal and external customers using Main Library for a variety of events, meetings, programs, and productions, including but not limited to, theatrical productions, concerts, lectures, meetings, marketing, press conferences, commercial productions, and presentations.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for audiovisual and equipment set-up and break down of rooms for events, set up of exhibits, communicating with customers in the basic operation of audio-visual equipment, diagnosing and solving equipment problems. Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs when there is a program, event, and/ or meeting.

Systems & Equipment Include: Theater audio/visual equipment, stage props, fly-rail system; genie lift; hand trucks/dollies; lighting board; dimmer rack, etc.; online software (i.e. webinars and editing software).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires an Associate's Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of coursework from an accredited college or university in audio-visual arts or closely related field.

Requires two (2) years in audio-visual, lighting, and equipment experience or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses
None.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Theater, Technical Production, Drama, Film, Broadcasting, Music Technology or a closely related field
  • Audio Visual Technician Certificate
  • One (1) year or more teaching experience in a college level at a technical/vocational school level in the coursework of Audio Visual Technician, Theater, Technical Production, Production, and or Stage Management
  • Two (2) year's or more of technical experience in theatre or performing arts
  • Two (2) years' or more experience using audio video or audio visual equipment such as: sound boards, microphones, video switchers, dimmer racks, projectors and or cameras
  • One (1) year or more experience in project management
  • Two (2) years' or more experience in using event management software
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Description:
Executes technical audio-visual needs at venues in Broward County.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Coordinates and executes technical operations with (lights, sound, fly rail rigging, and set erection and video recording) for dramatics performances, musical concerts, dance concerts, recitals, auditions, and special programs in the theater.

Consults with producers, event planners and coordinators, to coordinate productions and program ideas and provide expert advice regarding feasibility of ideas in implementing the use of stage technology and space in the theater and seminar rooms.

Coordinates with program staff and users of theater and seminar rooms, to execute technical audio-visual needs for productions and including lighting, rigging, sound, props, sets, and assisting with event transitions with set-ups and breakdowns for theater.

Performs equipment maintenance and repairs, maintains equipment inventory and supplies for all audio-visual systems, to include sound, lights, cameras, fly rail, LCD projector, and video systems; and prepares reports on such.

Develops and revises the safety manual including policies and procedures for theater and seminar room equipment operations.

Provides technical guidance for groups using the auditorium or other venues in the county.

Performs related work as assigned.
